What Marburg means to me
First of all, I would like to point out that I really love to live in Marburg. It is one of the nicest cities I have seen in Germany. The city center is very old and historical which is especially interesting for me as a student of history. Still today, one can see all the typical facts of medieval cities and their development.
The castle is a very special place for me. I always liked to read about castles, knights and princes and the life in the medieval ages. Unfortunatly, I grew up in an area without castles. That is why I could not belief to live in a city where such a building is the center of the "skyline" and can e seen from almost everywhere. Even though I live in Marburg for three years now, I still keep looking at the castle and enjoy seeing it from time to time.
Last but not least, the university is an important place for my everyday life. I visit it regularly. Therefore, it is important for me that I feel coomfortable being there. In my opion, the buildings are not as nice as they could be except for the "old university". I think that studying could be more interesting if the environment would be more motivating. But in the end, I did not suffer from being here. All the buildings are pretty close and one does not waist too much time going from one to another like in other universities.
