What I think about the new tools

Within the last few weeks I got to know a lot of new tools during the course. I already heard of some of them in advance, like twitter or weelby. But I never usedthem before. Some others were totally new to me, like netvibes or deliciouis. Here is what I think about them:

Twitter

I heard about Twitter before, but I registered for it in this course for the first time.
My impression of it for now is that it is pretty similar to the start page of facebook. One has to add people and can rerad what they post. It doesn't really matter whether they write personal or public things because it's always up to them. That is why I don't really like it. But that might change when I start to use it a bit more.

Delicious

This is a programm I really like. I always regretted not to be able to have access to my links on other computers. I think that I will use delicious quite often in the future. The possibility to have acces to other people's links is something I really appreciate and can take advantage of.

Netvibes

Well, Netvibes first seemed to be a very efficient and usefull tool. One can have an overview of all the important homepages one usually visites one at a time. This would save time and one can start surfing on other pages. But after I worked with it for a while I found out that it has its weaknesses. When linking one's email-account the program only reacts when there is a mail from somebody who was veryfied before. Unknown mails are considered to be ujnimportant and are therefore not interesting for netvibes. The program also does does not activate the chat funciton of facebook and studivz which are the most important functions of this page for me. Therefore I will use it for the university but not in privacy.

Wordclouds

Wordclouds are a very good tool for visualization of text contents at school. They can become an essential part of a teacher's life when they are used in a good way. Therefore, it makes sense to deal with them and learn how to use them. I did not have the time to do that so far. But after a brief check of the 3 tools presented to us I prefer Tagul. It seems to be easy to use and gives the possibility to form word clouds of different shapes. It is also easy to change the colors and save them in the end. I am not able to say anything about the other 2 tools because I did not really have the time to work with them. But I plan to do so in the next few weeks.
